How to Set Up Gmail Filters
What are Filters?
Filters are used to automatically sort and filter out you already held and incoming mail. You can set up filters to catch mail based on certain parameters and then also set what to do with said mail.
How to Create a Filter
1. In your inbox, select the gear symbol and then “See all settings”.
2. On the settings menu, select the header for “Filters and Blocked Addresses”. This is the menu where you can view your already made filters and create new filters, along with view blocked addresses.
3. To create a filter, select the “Create a new filter” button.
4. Enter in the set parameters for how you want you mail to be filtered. When you have your parameters set, select “Create filter”.
5. The next screen is where you can choose what happens to a messaage that comes in. When you have your options chosen, select “Create filter” to make your filter. If you want your new filter to apply retroactively to previous messages, select the last checkbox for “Also apply filter to ## matching conversations”.
