Microsoft Authenticator FAQ

Questions About Microsoft MFA?

What is MFA?

MFA (Multifactor Authentication or Two Factor Authentication) is a secondary step added to the sign in process. It helps secure your account by requiring not only your password, but also a one-time code that will be sent to your mobile device.

Why are we doing this?

We are doing this to help keep our accounts secure. A password can be shared, but a one-time code with a short lifespan is harder to become compromised.

What if I can’t access my phone?

If you are unable to access your phone or receive your one-time code, please contact the Solution Center at 514-796-8639 for assistance or use our self-service portal here to submit a work request.

What if I change my number?

If you change your number, you will need to replace your old number on file for MFA with the new number before you sign out. If you need additional assistance with this, please contact the Solution Center at 514-796-8639 or use our self-service portal here to submit a work request.
